Lesson 6 of 10

Legacy platform

SMTP

Learn how to connect a SpreadsheetWeb Legacy application to an SMTP server for automated email notifications and application messages.

1 min read

This lesson introduces the SMTP connector used by SpreadsheetWeb Legacy applications to send email. By connecting the application to an authorized mail server, a workflow can deliver a notification or calculated result after a user performs an action. The video presents the connector and the role of the server, sender, recipient, subject, and message values in an application-driven email.

Use SMTP for confirmations, internal alerts, approval requests, or other messages that should be generated from an application event. Before setup, obtain the approved host, port, encryption, and authentication details from the mail administrator. Decide which SpreadsheetWeb values can safely appear in the recipient list and message, and keep credentials outside user-visible content. Test delivery to a controlled address, then confirm sender identity, reply behavior, formatting, and spam handling before using the connector in a production workflow.
