How to generate a PDF from a defined print area in Excel

  1. Open your Excel workbook
  2. Select a range of cells that you want to be included in the print area
  3. Go to Page Layout tab and click Print Area – Set Print Area
  4. You can also go to Orientation and select Portrait or Landscape orientation
  5. Also, go to the Sizes – More Paper Sizes options and make sure to select Fit to 1 page in case if you like to fit everything on a single PDF page. If your print area includes more pages, try different options and see how they look from Print Preview
  6. Once you finished the Print Area setup inside of your Excel workbook – press Save button
  7. Go to Design of your web-application and upload your Excel workbook with Print Area added
  8. Go to Excel Events – Create New Excel Export – select Current Spreadsheet Type, select PDF Output Type, select the Worksheet Name from your Excel workbook where the Print Area was added, give a name for this PDF Excel Export and also give a name for the output PDF file and click Create Excel Export button at the bottom
  9. Go to Layout & Controls, open action button properties and make sure the Excel Export (PDF) is added to the action button Events
  10. Go to Preview, click the action button – and the PDF file will be downloaded to your device
