Lesson 2 of 7
Legacy platformTime Sheet Application
See how an Excel timesheet becomes a Legacy Platform web application for capturing work hours, calculating totals, and saving weekly records.
1 min readThis lesson demonstrates how an Excel timesheet can be delivered as a web application with the SpreadsheetWeb Legacy Platform. Employees enter hours in the browser, while the workbook calculates daily and weekly totals using the formulas already defined in Excel. Centralizing the process reduces the need to email workbook copies and gives each submission a consistent structure.
The same design can be adapted for project time, contractor hours, attendance, or other recurring work records. When preparing a workbook, identify the employee, period, project, and time-entry fields; keep total calculations separate from editable inputs; and define any validation required for missing or excessive hours. Decide how records will be saved and who may review them. Test a complete reporting period with realistic entries, including corrections and zero-hour days, and compare the application totals with the source workbook before making the timesheet available to users.
