Sales Quoting Application

See how an Excel quoting tool becomes a Legacy Platform sales application with guided inputs, pricing calculations, and saved quote records.

This lesson demonstrates how an Excel sales-quoting workbook can become a database-backed web application in the SpreadsheetWeb Legacy Platform. Sales users enter customer, product, and configuration information through the browser, while the workbook applies the existing pricing formulas and business rules. The resulting quote can be stored as a record instead of being managed through separate spreadsheet copies.

This pattern is useful for pricing tools that combine lookups, discounts, options, and calculated totals. Before conversion, identify the inputs a salesperson should control, protect formulas and reference data, and organize the output that will be reviewed or delivered to the customer. Decide how quote identifiers, revisions, ownership, and status should be stored. Test common and exceptional configurations against the original workbook, then confirm that saved records and any generated documents contain the values needed by the next stage of the sales process.
