Configure Map Legends and Colors

Configure a map legend in SpreadsheetWeb, including its position, font, number format, and the minimum and maximum colors used for data values.

1 min read

The map legend explains how values or value ranges correspond to colors on a map. Configure it so users can interpret the data without guessing what each color represents.

Open the legend settings

  1. Open the application in the user interface designer.
  2. Select the map control.
  3. Select Edit Legend at the bottom of the settings panel.

Show and position the legend

  • Use Enabled to show or hide the legend.
  • Use Position to choose where the legend appears relative to the map.
  • Use Font Color, Font Family, Font Size, and Font Style to make legend labels readable against the application design.

Configure the map color scale

Choose Min Color and Max Color to define the endpoints of the scale. SpreadsheetWeb creates the colors between those endpoints and assigns them to map locations based on the selected Value Field. If no value field is selected, the map can use the frequency of data points instead.

Choose colors with enough contrast to make differences visible. A sequential scale usually works best when values progress from low to high.

Format legend values

Use Number Format to control how numeric values appear in the legend. Apply a format that matches the measure being displayed, such as a number, percentage, or currency format.
