When considering changes to a web application, we can mainly consider two types of changes – data/formula changes and UI changes. In converted applications where you use the SpreadsheetWEB Excel add-in to create the web interface, depending on what types of changes you make, you may have to run the wizard again to apply your changes in the application. In Designer applications, you need to make sure that the named ranges in your original application match those in the new workbook.

Data or Formula Changes

Changes made to the data or the formulas used within a workbook, no matter how substantial, will not require a “re-conversion” of the workbook.

First, make the necessary changes in your workbook. You can download the version that’s sitting on the server using the Download Excel Model – green – button next to it in the Control Panel. Then make sure you’ve saved your changes (Ctrl+S or just Save in Excel) and then re-upload it from the Edit Application menu –blue button – page in the Control Panel.

In Designer applications, data or formula changes only entail publishing the application again from the designer interface, as long as all named ranges are matching the UI controls.

UI Changes

Changes like adding new inputs, moving cells, changing cell colors, essentially any change that will affect the visual properties of a web application will require a ‘re-conversion’.

Begin by making the changes in the workbook. Once you’re done, run the conversion wizard and go through the same steps, making edits as necessary. You can then save the workbook and re-upload from the Control Panel.

In Designer applications, UI changes can be done easily on the designer web interface with the drag-and-drop builder.
